Arne Sieber Workshop
'Future Technology of Sensors' / Heads up Displays

by EuroTek Arne Sieber

speaker profile>>

In the first part of the workshop Arne will give a short presentation on sensor technologies for O2 and CO2 currently used in rebreathers. This will not only describe the measurement principles, but will also focus on calibration and validation techniques and possible failure modes. Arne will then introduce solid state based gas sensors, that have many advantages like quasi indefinite lifetime, small size and fast signal response (t90 <= 100ms). The presentation will then be followed by a “life” demonstration of the sensors – sensor signals of traditional and solid state O2 and CO2 sensors will be recorded and displayed in real time.

In the second part of the workshop will be dedicated to graphical head up displays, that, in contrary to traditional LED based head up displays, have as core element a micro OLED display (matrix). One of Arnes research group last developments is a miniaturized diving computer that can be mounted directly on any mask and give information on all dive relevant parameters like for example cell readings, depth and decompression obligations. Next to that, Arne will also show prior developed devices including a mask mounted graphical head up display, that is in principle a secondary screen for a primary diving computer handset, and units that are mounted on the mouthpiece of a rebreather.
