Truk Lagoon
In 1939 the Japanese moved their Combined Fleet to the safety of Truk Lagoon and in 1941, when they bombed Pearl Harbour, the base at Truk was considered to be instrumental in ensuring it could happen.
Classic Truk Lagoon
Iconic images of Truk Lagoon will grace this presentation
Operation Hailstone was launched by the Americans to destroy this stronghold of the Japanese fleet and over the 17th and18th of February 1944 over 60 vessels and 25 aircraft were sunk.

Many of the shipwrecks are in shallow depths and easily accessible by open circuit divers, with a few in the 60 to 70 metre range. But, to explore all these wrecks to their full potential and bring back hundreds of photographs and hours of footage of areas not documented before we needed to use rebreathers.

In July 2010, after a lot of hard work by New Zealander Pete Mesley, Edoardo and other international divers arrived to dive Truk Lagoon on a variety of rebreathers mainly Inspirations & Evolutions, typically spending around five hours a day in the water and each amassing about 60 hours of in-water time.

This Film presentation will focus on the the best diving locations of this dream wreck destination on the remote island of Chuuk in Micronesia. The film will guide the audience into wrecks such as the Aikoku Maru, San Francisco Maru, Oti Destroyer and others where the divers accumulated bottom times of up to one and a half hours quite literally enabling them to explore, film and photograph the majority of the wreck sites.
Nothing compares to diving in Truk Lagoon and this film is guaranteed to impress.

This is a story of Truk Lagoon on film, as never seen before.
