EuroTek 2008 Dive Feedback
We were overwhelmed with emails and forum postings from delegates,
speakers and Exhibitors from all over the world about the EuroTek
2008 event. Some of the hundreds of emails and letters
we have received have been cut & pasted below. Thanks to everyone
one for supporting us and making this event a success. The EuroTek
team
Here's what Speakers, Delegates and Exhibitors had to say
about the EuroTek.2008 European Tek Diving Show
Thanks again for the great weekend, you should
be very proud.
Kevin Gurr

Just a quick note to say a thank you for organising Eurotek.
I think this has been a boost to the industry and hopefully
it will encourage divers to be more adventurous and safer. We
all appreciate your efforts in putting this together. A great
time was had by all at the evening meal and I'm sure numbers
will increase for the next show.
Best regards Alex Vassallo

I have been diving nearly 34 years and been to many conferences
and shows but this is the best I have been to by far, organisation,
timing and brilliant subjects in seminars. What about the HMS
Victoria by Danny Huyge & Eduardo Pavia best photography
I have ever seen.Cant wait till 2010, when can I buy tickets,
I will also go to the Gala dinner I missed, I heard it was brilliant.
Terry Goldie
Many thanks to Leigh, Carl & Roz for organising such a great
conference. A chance to meet with plenty of old farts from the
original IANTD events staged in Coventry plus loads of new faces
which is an encouraging sign for tech diving. Knowing of Leigh
Bishop’s long running desire to set up a Tek conference
here in Europe & also having been to Oztek which was to
be the benchmark for Eurotek I can attest that the team, at
their first attempt, pulled it off to a fine degree so praises
due. On a more personal note I have to say that I was totally
blown away & genuinely surprised (speechless even) at wining
the diver of the conference. Especially so considering that
cave divers were in a minority of those present. The Doxa watch
is something I will be proud to wear & associate with this
award so many thanks to all those who nominated me.

Our Finnish delegation would also like to thank you very much!
We had such a wonderful weekend and enjoyed so much being there.
We’ll be sure to tell everybody here about the professionalism
you presented and recommend any further happenings. Thanks again
for your great effort! Truly a great job! Antti

I just wanted to say well done to all involved in the Eurotek.08
conference. It was a lot of fun, a great collection of people
and very useful for me as an exhibitor. Thanks to Leigh, Carl
and Roz. It was an excellent event. Rich Walker

First off a fantastic job and a personal hope that you will
do it again in 2010. We traveled up from Cape Town and felt
it was really worth the cost pain and effort. Having been to
a few OZtek's in the past they too started similarly. It can
only go from strength to strength. Once again thanks for fantastic
effort and I look forward to seeing you guys in 2 years.
Nick Cunningham-Moorat

Eurotek were sublime, we enjoyed it very much. I received a
lot of phone calls yesterday from many divers in Belgium that
asked me how Eurotek was, I think next time we rent a big bus
to come over. The gala diner was an experience and we had a
lot of fun (great movie). I saw a lot of friends with the same
feeling about this weekend. So our congratulations with this
result and maybe we share this again in 2010.
Cheers, Danny & Joni Huyge

I have arrived home safely. I just wanted to say thanks for
inviting me to be part of such a wonderful event. I am thrilled
(as you must be too) to see the outpouring of positive feedback
on the diving forum website's. It really was a very special
event. Dr Simon J. Mitchell
I hope you’re now having a well deserved rest after such
a busy weekend. I must thank you, Leigh, Carl and Roz –
the weekend was a brilliant success and my head is still buzzing
with all the things that I saw and learnt (I drove my work colleagues
mad yesterday by talking about it!). Joanna Murphy
You guys did a great job, It went smooth and professional and
you should all be very proud.
I hope in some way to be a part of your next event, and see
someone else's ass in the ringer!
Thanks for having me
See you soon! Richie Kohler
A BIG BIG THANK YOU for organizing this event! It was the best
diving event I have been to yet. It was quite tricky to decide
to which talk to go to as I really would have wanted to see
them all!! Great speakers, great talks and a great website!
Looking forward to 2010!! Heike Weichert
Guys I know you're getting tons of these, but THANK YOU for
putting on the best dive show I've ever been to! Moreover, I
want to thank you both for allowing me to speak at EuroTek which
was a great honor. I learned a ton on how to go forward with
presenting and I appreciate you guys taking a chance on me with
that. Now that I know what to do with this type of event, I
have a couple of very pertinent and interesting ideas for next
time. Evan Kovacs, USA
Deep Sea Detectives underwater Cameraman
Leigh and Carl,
First, let me say that you guys and Roz did an absolute top
notch job with the event. You pulled it off well. It was very
professional and I heard nothing but very positive comments
about the show from people who came by my booth. From a personal
note, I think the show was very good for Wreck Diving Magazine.
Everyone seemed interested in the magazine if they could only
get it locally and I think I made positive arrangements in that
regard. Thank you especially for the publication award. No one
has recognized the magazine with such great honors before. Look
out in the next issue for a report on a great show. Hopefully
I'll be reaching more Europeans by then!
Cheers, Joe Porter

For those of you that couldn’t make the conference, you
missed a cracking week end. There were top speakers giving great
presentations and really good prizes to be won at the evening
gala dinner. There were also top dive manufacturers showing
there goods and offering advice as well as well known instructors.
I had a great week end. It was also a chance to meet new people.
I hope Carl and Leigh run one again in the future. Regards,
Lex.
It was the best event I have been to in a long, long, time.
The Gala dinner was a sight to behold and that "lost DSD
episode" was one of the funniest things I have ever seen.
I really hope we can do this again.
Best regards and ATVB, Bruce Backhouse-Humby
A big thank you for all the effort you put into organising Eurotek.08.
I was looking forward to this event for a long time and certainly
was not disappointed. All the speakers presentations were first
class, very good exhibitors stands and the Gala dinner was mind
blowing. Looking forward to Eurotek 2010 - well done guys ! Dave
Pelly
Leigh, Carl, Roz. A quick thanks for the invitation to speak
this year. The speakers were great, the people enthusiastic
and the saturday night dinner was classic. Everyone made us
feel like one of the crew. Enjoy the rest and we'll see you
in 2010. Casey McKinlay

Awesome weekend thanks to you and all who helped RELEIF eh get
some more beers in and keep your good idea's to yourself !well
till the next one , bigger might not always be better thanks
again. Steve
The best dive show I have ever been to. I have just seen some
of the comments on all the forums about your EuroTek show, it
seems everyone else enjoyed it too. It brought back some memories
and made me laugh too.
John Dryden
Now that the dust has settled I really wanted to thank you all
sincerely for putting on a world class event. I am really proud
to have been here for this event. Catching up with old friends
and forging new long-lasting relationships was also amazing
not to mention the Gala dinner. What a night! And that bloody
video! I laughed so much I am sure a little wees came out!!!!

Would like to add my congratulations. Everyone I have spoken
to loved the show well done to you all. Would have been there
myself but recovering from more surgery pencil me in for 2010
as I refuse to quit as a boat skipper!
Cheers Grahame Knott
I thought the conference was very good indeed, Simon Mitchell
presentations were excellent. would suggest 10 min gap between
presentations to facilitate loo and travel but I guess you’ve
thought of that. I have been involved in putting on both conferences
and large meetings before and thought your team, i.e. the 3
of you did a great job. What was also very good was the inclusive
feel to the conference, the 3 guys I brought with me all felt
it was very welcoming. Great job, hope you got what you wanted
from putting it on Ian Price
Just a quick note to congratulate yourselves, Leigh, Carl and
Roz on putting together an excellent conference. Congratulations
and Well Done. My only disappointment was not doing the Saturday
too.... Paul W.
We had an outstanding fair in Birmingham at the EuroTek show.
Although the traffic in England was a nightmare. I had the opportunity
to meet many people I knew only from the digital highway. For
us it was a fantastic weekend and I would like to complement
you three for the good event! The atmosphere in England was
outstanding and it was a real pleasure to meet people who live
there life almost similar to me! I can imagine that you will
be asking yourself if it was worth all the stress and energy,
well there is just one answer, YES! Be sure that this event
will be in the mind of many people for years. It contributes
to the future of technical diving and is worth a fortune! Personally
I had the opportunity to talk to many great names in the industry!
FANTASTIC!
Leigh, Carl and Roz, you did a fantastic job!
We took 24 rebreathers to Birmingham from Amsterdam to Antwerpen
to Calais to Dover, London and finally to Birmingham. We took
an oxygen rebreather from the second WW and also a closed circuit
rebreather beside of 22 other models in a car 1400 km on the
road
in a car in a train in a tunnel underneath a sea to EuroTek.08
and I think a was well worth all trouble!
Kind regards; Jan Willem Bech http://www.therebreathersite.nl
Carl, Leigh, Ros,
Just a quick note to say that I thought Eurotek was brilliant
and as you suggested just what we needed in the European and
UK scene. You guys put in a fantastic amount of work –
the organization was exceptional and the speakers were great.
It was a privilege to speak and I hope I might get the opportunity
again in 2010.
F*cking well done!
Cheers

What a cracking conference at Eurotek on Sunday. Shame I didn’t
have the foresight to come along on the Saturday too! Paul
A.Watts
Eurotek exceeded my expectations; it was a welcomed breath of
fresh air after such a dismal UK diving year. Many thanks for
helping to organize such a great event. When you organize the
next event, I will help to organize BSOUP to be there. I’ve
learnt a great deal and taken away a few ideas for imaging in
the future. Put faces to names I’ve only know on the internet
and made new contacts. Good luck for the Future. Peter
Tatton. BSOUP
Hi Carl, Leigh & Roz,
On the morning after the conference, I thought it would be right
for me to drop you guy’s a brief message to say what an
excellent event you created and my whole hearted thanks for
letting me be part of it. I believe it was enjoyed by all who
attended, and as the new guy in the market, I appreciated everyone’s
time and support and hope that I was able to contribute in a
small way to the event. From a product perspective, we were
received very well from people in the industry who I have the
utmost respect for in terms of their views, opinions and obviously
experience. I was pleased some gave me some sceptical views
and I was able to overcome these .I was proud and pleased to
be part of Eurotek 08 and hope to be involved again in the future.
Many thanks again Peter Wilson

Just wanted to say that I thoroughly enjoyed Eurotek on Sunday
and I hope you manage to find the energy to do another. Both
the organisation and quality of presentations was excellent.
Unfortunately, I couldn't attend the Saturday and therefore
missed Rick Stanton's talk...can we put in a request for next
time? Plus, on a personal note-Leigh Bishop talking about wreck
photography+rebreathers would be a bonus!
Regards Christine Roberts
Lads,
Many thanks for a great weekend. And well done. Looking forward
to 2010. Thanks for all your help. Regards, Stewart
McMickan,
I really enjoyed the event, I think it was exactly what the
tech diving industry needs in the UK. Minor things that would
have made it better such as access on the afternoon/evening
before the event to set up the stands, I think we were all somewhat
knackered by the time we got to the dinner. Everything else
on the event was great, thanks for putting it on, and letting
us participate.
Thanks John Kendall

I've heard some great reports about EuroTek. I am really sorry
that I missed it! I hope you have a little bit of time now to
relax .I am looking forward to 2010 and being able to attend!
Cheers Barry McGill
A Huge Thank You
I'd like to say how much I enjoyed a thoroughly great weekend
at EuroTek.08 and also to say a big, big thank you to you all.
I can imagine just how much blood sweat and tears went into
making this happen. The end result was so very good. Your choice
of presenters, the topic range, the exhibitors (especially JWB's
fascinating collection, as a non-vendor) was first rate.To be
honest, it was really difficult choosing between some presentations
and if I may make a suggestion for the next event, if you can
hire a room or two more then it might be possible to repeat
a few more sessions. I'm pretty darned sure the ticket sales
will be much larger now that everyone's going to talk about
this cracking event. Once again, thank you. What you folk did
was very much appreciated.
Best wishes...
...Pierre Leon (St. Albans BSAC)
What a great show. The quality was so good that there were too
many parallel sessions I wanted to see at the same time, that
it was difficult to choose what to miss-out on !It was also
great to catch up with some old friends, and meet some new ones.
Seeing everybody scrubbed up for the Gala dinner was awesome
(but more bar staff is definitely required for an inland diver'
s meeting!) Looking forward to 2010 already ! Geraint

Quick thank you for all your collective efforts setting up EuroTek.08
and how much I enjoyed it - if it helps you. I would be glad
to host any presentations/slide on my website, or even help
you with yours if you want? Once again, great effort :)

look forward being at the 2010 edition.

Just to say thanks & well done for a great dive show, I
hope you all managed to actually enjoy the weekend? Hilary

I came to Eurotek and it was awesome. I saw many presentation,
helas i had to chose which to sacrifice for attending others.
It was really enthusiastic. The gala dinner was incredible,
the lost episode of "deep sea detective" made me laugh
and the image of so many well known Tek divers dressed as penguins
was not imaginable before. Someone said "i will eat a live
cat if Rick Stanton will be in black tie". Now he is really
worried to be served with a cat next time we will meet.
Really thank you for your job. The conference was worth every effort you made.
Thank you again.
Gilberto Bonaga
I would personally like to thank Leigh, Carl and Roz, with all
the many others that made eurotek possible and a resounding
success. Many times we go to an exhibition taking it for granted
but for me eurotek surpassed all l' ve been to so far, the talks
were very informative by divers with a passion for their area
of dedication in the diving world, l for one would like to see
eurotek happen on a regular basis. Thanks again to all concerned.
Trevor Gunn
Would agree with all the comments, only made one day but it
was excellent, will do the whole thing if it happens again in
2010 John Culman
Firstly I would like to say that it was a fantastic conference
and I really hope that you decided to run it every two years.
The presentations from Simon Mitchell were absolutely superb
and well done for flying him over so speak. I also feel that
the last minute plan to include the talk from Vandagraph
was a very good move and it was well attended, it was interesting
that the same query which appeared on the Inspiration forum
re 'materialized' but was shown to be unsubstantiated, which
I think everyone else in the room responded well to. It is a
real shame that Martin Parker could not make but I will look
forward to his talk in the future. Should you need any help
next time round I am sure I can help find you some willing volunteers.
Lisa Shafe
The Irish contingent were not in as many numbers as we had hoped
- that will all change in 2010! We have posted a couple of 'excited'
reports on the Irish Technical Diving Forum and on our own private
club forums. Basically saying how relevant and great it was
and how professional and clear the presentations were. And that
there was no need to go to the usual trade shows when EuroTek
provides all and more than you would want. Great idea, great
execution and great praise to all of you.
Well done, Stewie
Ireland
My comments: I wish to express my gratitude to Leigh Carl and
all the staff who helped org anise such a great line up of speakers
and exhibitors, I found the conference to be better suited to
today's advanced diver than any other U.K event I have attended.
Keep up the good work and see you in 2010.
Best regards
Adrian Brown
Fantastic weekend with something for everyone, whether you are
starting on the "tech" route, caving or wreck diving.
Top marks for getting all the different agencies involved in
one place too. Looking forward to Eurotek 2010.
Teresa Telus
EuroTek 08 Speaker www.shipwreckfilms.co.uk
Overall I thought that Eurotek was excellent and very professionally
run, I thoroughly enjoyed it. A BIG thank you to Leigh, Carl
and Roz and your team of helpers for putting this event together.
The best dive convention/show/diving get together type thing
that I've been too. Sadly I couldn't get to all of the presentations
that I wanted. Perhaps in future events the ones that are likely
to be really popular could be repeated? The only two areas that
could be improved are quite minor - the length of time it took
to get in on Saturday morning. Unfortunately I missed the opening
address as I was queuing. The other was the shortage of bar
staff prior to the evening event - it was very difficult to
get served while we waited. However, both of those are very
minor points and in no way detracted from the event.
Hope you run another in 2010, Dan Egleton
ps. The Lost Deep Sea Detectives episode shown at the Gala Dinner
was absolute genius :-)
My comments: for a really superb weekend - you did us all proud
- clearly a labour of love and it showed. Just a few thoughts:
A bit more time in between workshops / discussions would have
been nice - it felt a little rushed at times. Simon was superb
- would be lovely to have him back again as well? Gala Dinner
was a lovely touch and great to split the tables up so you meet
a few new people.
Cheers guys - your effort was much appreciated Howard
Payne
Leigh, Carl and Roz,
Thank you so much for an absolutely fantastic show. You will
struggle to improve on it but if the next one is to the same
standard you have no problems. The talks were excellent, Simon
Mitchell was world class and well worth the effort of bringing
him over. Mark Chase
The Eurotek 2008 weekend has turned out to be a fantastic weekend.
I learned a lot, met a lot of people and had a lot of fun. I
hope this event will be repeated, you can put my name on the
list.
Thanks Leigh, Carl and Roz
Kind regards, Peter Bellemans
(Belgium)
I could only make the Sunday, but next time I hope to make both
days
Well done Clive Ward
I was so pleased to be of assistance to your EuroTek conference
and I am so pleased that the event went so well after all the
hard work that you put in.
I believe that this event is being and will be talked about
for some time to come.
It as been such a long time since the last event for Tec Divers.
I feel that the show that you have just put on was so much more
an improvement on the ones in the past.
If you do put another show on in the future please don’t
hesitate to ask me to help.
Best Regards Barry Smith
Dear Leigh, Carl and Roz, I'd like to say a big well done on
organising such fantastic conference, and with resounding success
too. I've had a hand in organising things on that scale in the
past and I know it's not easy at all. The presenters were all
first rate, and I learned heaps. You guys stepped up to the
plate when nobody else had, and for that you are to be commended.
I can't believe you did so well for a first go! Jason
greenstein
Hey guys, I just wanted to send you my thanks for organising
Eurotek, it was a fantastic show & you should be justifiably
proud for all of your hard work. Stephen McElhone
Seriously Scuba
Congrats to you all on an excellent show. I was there for the
full two days and even managed to visit the stands and spend
a bit too. I think much more could be done with HD in 2010 and
hence you'll need a better way to project/screen it..Brill...
James Laver
The three of us from HUGSAC/BSAC 380 really enjoyed our visit
to the conference on Sunday, so much so that when its run again
we'll be there for both days!
The talks where of a very high quality with lots of information
and the exhibitors had the space and time to talk with us for
extended periods, truly an unrivalled event in the UK diving
calendar! Thanks again and we will be back next time! Ben
Field
Great show and great people, we would like to thank Leigh, Carl
and Roz for all the efforts they have put in to make the inaugural
Eurotek show such a great success, the gala was one of the highlights
of the show, especially the alternative 'Diving Detectives'
section!!!!!!!. We look forward to the next one in 2010. We
would also like to thank all the delegates for giving up their
time to make this show a the huge success that it was, we felt
very privileged to be invited to exhibit at Eurotek 08, and
in the company of so many respected manufacturers and technical
divers who attended.
