The winner of the 2008 DOXA
'diver of the conference' award went to European Cave diver
Rick Stanton who has dedicated most of his
life to true modern day exploration. Rick picks up the award
along with a new DOXA
pro sub 1000T famous orange faced watch, depth rated to over
1000m. http://www.doxawatches.com
Rick Stanton has dived into the planet's most hostile
environments - places where no human has been before, and where
only a handful are likely to follow.

| Cave explorers generally fall into one or
other of two categories; technical divers who dive in flooded
caves but rarely leave the water, and cavers who dive but
treat the flooded section as a barrier to finding further
dry cave. This man is a rarity in that he excels in both disciplines.
Rick Stanton is a Cave diver that is respected throughout
the community not only for his significant exploration in
submerged cave systems in Europe but in cave systems the world
over.

The DOXA
Sub 1000T Watch awarded to the EuroTek Diver of the Conference
Just in time for our 40th anniversary, DOXA is pleased to announce
the launch of our new VINTAGE SUB SERIES, and the release of
the DOXA SUB 1000T Professional. The orange legend is re-born
in a limited edition of 5000 pieces, available exclusively here
on the DOXA website.
TURN BACK TIME
Everything old is new again
- the look of the original 1967 DOXA SUB,
combined with the high quality and dependability of a brand
new DOXA SUB. We have used a slightly domed crystal to help
capture the look and feel of the early plastic crystals used
on the models from the 60s. In addition, we've designed a
matte orange dial, employing a slightly green toned superluminova
for the markers and hands to help capture the aged look of
these classic older models.
Bigger is better…not
always - With a diameter of just over 42 mm,
the DOXA 1000T Professional is the perfect answer for those
looking for a smaller sized SUB. Staying true to the size
and look of the original, the case is an up-to-date replica
of the original DOXA SUB from 1967.
Retro looks with modern technology-
The SUB 1000T Professional is made from a
single block of stainless steel, with an upgraded depth rating
of 1000 meters (3280 feet). A solid 120-tooth stainless steel
bezel, solid piece end links, and a thicker, more substantial
bracelet have all been added as well. A 100% Swiss-made self-winding
movement is the engine driving the SUB 1000T Professional,
and just like the original, it comes with DOXA'S patented
no-decompression dive table bezel. (US Patent N. 3505808).

DOXA
- THE DIVERS WATCH
If ever the definitive history of the dive watch is written one
manufacturer will stand alongside the likes of Rolex, Blanc pain
and Omega as being a major contributor to defining what makes a
great watch. That manufacturer is DOXA. Arguably it is a small company
from Bienne in Switzerland who did more to push the boundaries of
submersible time keeping pieces than anyone else.
DOXA was founded in 1889 but it wasn’t until the 1960’s
that they introduced the worlds first orange faced precision sub
diving watch. Anyone who was anyone in the world of diving in the
1960’s and 70’s wore a DOXA from Cousteau and Falco
to Stan Waterman.
By the mid 1970’s the quartz revolution was well underway
and people’s fascination for the technological marvel and
accuracy of inexpensive digital watches sounded the death knell
for many Swiss manufacturers.
DOXA is one manufacture that has survived through many economic
changes, brought by the Swiss Jenny Family and re established in
recent years the company is today producing a limited run of the
same watches our predecessors worn with the look of the original
1967 DOXA SUB, combined with the high quality and dependability
of a brand new DOXA SUB.
DOXA are proud to be associated with EuroTek and are donating to
our Diver of the conference a limited edition SUB 1000T Professional
based on the original 1967 DOXA sub, made from a single block of
stainless steel, with an upgraded depth rating of 1000 meters (3280
feet).

Statement from Rick Stanton
Many thanks to Leigh, Carl & Roz for organising such
a great conference. A chance to meet with plenty of old farts
from the original IANTD events staged in Coventry plus loads
of new faces which is an encouraging sign for tech diving.
Knowing of Leigh Bishop’s long running desire to set
up a Tek conference here in Europe & also having been
to Oztek which was to be the benchmark for Eurotek I can attest
that the team, at their first attempt, pulled it off to a
fine degree so praises due. On a more personal note I have
to say that I was totally blown away & genuinely surprised
(speechless even) at wining the diver of the conference. Especially
so considering that cave divers were in a minority of those
present. The DOXA
watch is something I will be proud to wear & associate
with this award so many thanks to all those who nominated
me.
